"Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in His holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land." Psalm 68:4-5

The Park, Cupcakes, and Tickle-Wars

After school on Wednesday, Mamí, Sofia, and I went to Parque Carolina and the mall. Sofia's favorite thing to do is go on the swings.

Good thing I have practice pushing little girls on the swing! :)
Sofia was scared to go down the slide at first, but as soon as she saw a little boy do it, she was ready to go!

Yay, Sofi! :)

Sofia went up to everyone she saw and asked proudly, "Have you met my hat? She can't talk because she doesn't have any teeth." She is so funny! Her hats also took turns going down the slide. Most little girls bring stuffed animals or dolls to the park and push them down the slide are on the swings. Not this girl. Give her a hat and a tie and she's ready to go!

Okay, one question. Who gave this girl a chocolate cupcake full of sugar?

On Thursday, Sofia decided that she wanted to give her American Girl Doll from her Grammy a bath. It started out that Valentina (her doll) was thirsty and wanted water, but it turned into a full-out shower.

Because we didn't want this doll to get ruined, we decided to take her to the toy store to buy a doll for the bath. We found one, and as we were walking to the checkout, she saw a different doll. A cloth doll. A doll that is not made for the bath. But she insisted on getting this cloth doll instead of the bath doll. We explained to her that she could not get this doll wet or else it'd be ruined. But she still insisted. And since this doll was only seven dollars, we let her get the cloth one instead.
As of today, the doll's name is Ebony. Ebony is much dirtier today than she was yesterday :)

Afterwards, we found a nice little park to play in for awhile. I got some cute pictures of Sofia as I opened the windows of the playhouse to surprise her.

My mom and I met with Sofia's teacher today, and it sounds like Sofia is quite the trouble maker at school and tries to demand all the attention - oh my. She doesn't really act out that much at home (she is just very hyper-active and can get frustrated easily) so we are wondering if it is because she tries to compete for attention with the other kids. This is a normal orphanage behavior, but please pray with us that she will not feel the need to compete for attention with her other sisters. Please pray that she will know that no matter what she is loved and cherished by her new family and that she won't have to compete for attention.
I'm in love with this girl.

We have discovered a wonderful thing - Disney Junior. We have been using our portable DVD player for Sofia to watch movies on, but I think that the screen was too small for her to be able to see very well with her eyesight problems - even with her glasses. Well, we figured out how to put Disney Junior on the TV in our apartment, and she loves it. Not only does that give us a break from her hyper-ness, but we do think that it helps her to relax for awhile. We think it helps her to clear her mind as there is a lot that she is having to process right now.

Sofia has learned the phrase "Oh my gosh!" It is so cute.

As I turned around after a tickle-fest, this is what I saw.

I loved Sofia's hair after we had our tickle-war.

Isn't this girl just precious?

So, we all get a little bit bored while we wait in the apartment, trying to pass the time. So, Sofia decided to bathe the brush in desitin to ease her boredom :) We all kill boredom in different ways, right? At least that's what we're trying to tell ourselves :)

Thank you to all who shared the blog from yesterday (if you haven't seen it already, read it here). I just know that Miss A has a family out there! I am so thankful for all of you who have decided to pray and advocate for this sweet girl!
