"Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in His holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land." Psalm 68:4-5

Days 12 and 13: Birthday Parties, Interesting Movies, and Strawberries with Sugar

Sunday morning we went to English Fellowship Church here in Quito. We loved this church during our stay here in Ecuador last year and we were so glad to be back. One of the most memorable things of the morning was during worship - Sofia danced and danced and raised her arms while worshipping. It was the most precious thing ever. Music really calms Sofia and she is not afraid to dance in front of anybody.
We were thankful for the Sunday School after worship because we weren't sure how we were going to keep little Miss Ball of Energy quiet for an hour. She had fun at Sunday School but at one point she bolted up the stairs and ran to Mamí - because she couldn't remember her doll's name! Once Mamí reminded her that she named her doll Ebony, she ran right back to the person that was watching her downstairs, declaring that her doll's name was Ebony.
Afterwards, we went to a birthday party at some new friends's house. We brought one of our friends from the states to accompany us - and to speak to us in English when all the Spanish overwhelmed us! ;) Sofia played with some of the little boys while we (Mom, our friend, and I) ate a traditional Ecuadorian meal with chicken soup, potato cakes, rice, corn, meat, and salad.
This morning we explained to Sofia that she couldn't bring her tie to school because the teachers had told us it was a distraction to the other kids. Surprisingly, she agreed and didn't ask to take the tie at all! After school, we went to the park. And this time, Sofia brought a doll to play with instead of her hats! She pushed Ebony on the swings instead of her hats! Yay, Sofi! :)

I may have had a little more fun with the doll, hanging her in weird places to make Sofia laugh :) It worked! Sofia thought that it was hilarious.

There was also a soccer game going on...

But we couldn't get any closer than where we were because of the wall with the broken glass on top of it to keep us out!

Later we went to Plaza de las Americas. After dinner, we went to see the movie Wreck it Ralph in Spanish. It was really... interesting. But Sofi seemed to enjoy it a lot. I think 3D was a new thing for her :)

I received some photos from our trip to Mitad del Mundo from our friend that came with us, and since I couldn't share them with you on Saturday, I figured I'd share some of them with you tonight :)
This yellow line supposedly marks the equator! Here I am standing right in between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
On the car ride home.

We went to the Supermaxi afterwards.

And since we got strawberries...

Sofia got to try strawberries with sugar the next day! It was a great way to finish off a very eventful but wonderful day.
