"Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in His holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land." Psalm 68:4-5

Entering Stage Two

Yesterday we started the day off with taking Sofia to her horse therapy lesson. She has been taking horse therapy with her orphanage for a while and the psychologist wanted us to see how it works. It looked like a lot of fun and Sofia seemed really relaxed and confident! :)

Afterwards we went to the notary for my parents to sign the Power of Attorney. Tsunami Tsofia was wild and was anxious to get back to the apartment. Afterwards, my dad and I had the opportunity to go the Historical Center of Quito while my mom and Sofia stayed at the apartment. We had a really good time exploring old churches, eating good food, and looking in shops. I had never experienced my dad's acrophobia, but I got to today as we climbed high above Quito on top of one of the churches.

We had empanadas verdes and milkshakes for lunch.
Yesterday marked day 7 with Sofia. We had some struggles with her hyper-ness and delayed obedience. We think she was somewhat dysregulated because we had to meet at the orphanage before going to horse therapy and it was probably confusing after saying goodbye to everyone the day before. We also told her that her PapĂ was leaving to go to the United States tomorrow, which made her sad. She kept asking if she could go with him. We told her that it wasn't possible and we had to stay here for about four more weeks, but she didn't understand. When she wasn't behaving well, we had to take a privilege away and she responded well to that. She even reenacted the whole scene with her hats, telling us that the hat did not behave well and she had to take her privilege away. She is such a character! Today (Wednesday) has already been better and she woke up happy and ready to go to school!
My dad has left to go home today. Please pray for safe flights and that he will be home soon! He will return in about a week and a half (prayerfully) for court.
We have now entered stage two in the adoption process. We have finished the bonding period and are waiting for a court date. Please pray that we can have a court date by the end of next week! Thank you!
