"Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in His holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land." Psalm 68:4-5

I wonder what she will think about this?

In the midst of my crazy day today, I took out time to take some pictures of our beautiful snow so that we could show our new daughter in Ecuador what she has to look forward to upon coming to Idaho. I couldn't help but wonder what she is going to think about SNOW...and about so many other foreign things. I can't even begin to imagine what is going through her little mind right now. She knows that we are coming, and we are told that she is excited....but I am sure that she is very scared as well.  Even though she does not have a family in Ecuador, she will be leaving everything familiar in her life to start a new life in a new place with a new language, new foods, new routines, and new sights. And snow. I hope she will like the snow. We can work on all the rest....but not much can be done about snow in north Idaho! I like snow because it blankets the world with beauty and makes everything seem brand new. It's like we get a fresh start each time it snows.  I hope Alison is looking forward to her fresh start. And snow.

  1. Gemma's first experience with snow included lots of trepidation on her part. Today, she was practically giddy getting on her snowpants at the prospect of playing outside in it!

I'm SO EXCITED for you guys! I truly can relate to EVERYTHING you have been and are experiencing in your adoption journey. God is indeed good...all the time. Your new daughter will be blessed beyond words by your obedience to your heavenly Father in pursuing her.

Best advice? Take one day at a time. Enjoy each little baby step, and don't look at the whole picture...it can get overwhelming at times!

    Can't wait to follow along!

  3. Remember how terrified Ziona was of the water when we first got her? Screaming and crying at the pools in Mexico? I was so shocked because she had been living in Hawaii. Several months later, she became the best swimmer in our family at her age. Even if Allison isn't initally thrilled with the snow and all the bundling involved, she will be thrilled to have you as her mother and will begin to enjoy the things you enjoy. A process of adjustment and trust, sister. After all, if I was able to convince Z to wear shoes and socks after her barefoot days in Hawaii, anything is possible. Love you!
